The stunning location

Bienvenidos a Andalucía!

Andalucia – the romantic Spanish land of beautiful beaches, quaint towns filled with ancient secrets, ferias (celebrations), flamenco, and the famous Andalusian horsesrests on the Southern Coast of Spain.

In the charming little ocean-side pueblo of Rota, you will dip into the relaxing pace of Spanish life, and get a taste of the sea-faring ways of old Spain.

Enjoy welcoming Spanish culture, tasty tapas and sweet bodegas, gypsy markets, and the peaceful comforts of our hotel, Playa de la Luz.

Sunshine can never be guaranteed, but the southern coast of Andalucia boasts an average of 2900 sunshine hours per year, making it one of the sunniest places in Europe. (London gets about 1500)

The Embracing Space at HOTEL Playa de la Luz

Uniquely nestled between sand dunes, a pine forest and the Atlantic Ocean, Hotel Playa de la Luz is so close to the ocean, it is practically in it! Waves break against the hotel’s facade and you can hear and smell the proximity of the ocean from every corner of the hotel.  Andalusian charm is their trademark, making you feel right at home in your oasis by the sea.

Extensive breakfast buffets will nourish you after your morning yoga and meditation sessions.

Relax with tea or coffee, lunch or an after-dinner drink in the spectacular terrace overlooking the sea. Your hotel’s restaurant provides a perfect combination of traditional and innovative tapas and dishes, known both for taste and presentation.

From May to October the hotel provides a programme of activities which includes live performances, cooking classes, “Sevillanas” dancing classes, etc.

The rooftop beach club area includes a salt-water treatment swimming pool, towels, sun-deck chairs, Balinese beds, relaxation area, and fitness equipment.

Stepping out of the hotel grounds, the closest chiringuito is a 400 metre walk along the beach or the boarded walkway.
Here you can enjoy typical Spanish tapas washed down with generously poured cocktails, locally produced gins and ice-cold beer.
A relaxing 1km stroll further along the beach or through the pine forest will lead you to more permanent beach restaurants.

From mid June to mid October you’ll have a wider choice of summer chiringuitos; all offering stunning views of the ocean. Comfortable chairs, sunbeds and sun umbrellas create a comfortable place to relax on the beach with a cool drink.

Depending on the day, you can enjoy live music while relaxing with a tasty cocktail while sinking your feet into the sand.

Take a 3km walk into the whitewashed town of Rota and you’ll be spoilt for choice with a wide range of local Spanish restaurants to suit all budgets. (Or you can take a taxi for €5)

There is also a selection of fabulous local restaurants close to the hotel too, they just don’t have the beach view.
